Porter-Cable FCN200 Pneumatic Flooring Cleat Nailer Review

Porter-Cable FCN200 Pneumatic Flooring Cleat Nailer Feature

  • Drives -inch shape cleat nails from 1-1/2-inch to 2-inch
  • Pneumatic driving action consistently drives fastener for better finished installation
  • Unit comes fully assembled and ready for use right out of the box
  • Strong, lightweight, die-cast aluminum housing
  • Non-marring base allows user to drive fastener close to wall; Better balance for stability - tool sits upright for smoother floor installation
The Porter-Cable FCN200 Two-Inch Flooring Cleat Nailer drives 1-1/2 to 2-inch cleat nails quickly and efficiently. Durable and built to last, this nailer features a 100-cleat, rear-load, gravity-feed magazine with bypass pusher, and it has a well-balanced, stable design for dependable results in both traditional and engineered hardwoods.

The Porter-Cable FCN200 Two-Inch Flooring Cleat Nailer
At a Glance:
  • Drives L-shaped cleats from 1.5 inches to 2 inches
  • Pneumatic driving action of 70-100 PSI
  • Strong, lightweight aluminum housing
  • Ergonomic design
  • No assembly required

Durable, lightweight aluminum construction is heavy-duty without sacrificing comfort.
Balanced, Ergonomic, and Powerful
The FCN200 features a balanced, ergonomic design, and it stands upright for easy, stable use. It also has a low center of gravity that allows it to stand independently without falling over.

And because the FCN200 is made from durable, lightweight die-cast aluminum, it's heavy-duty enough to complete tough jobs, yet comfortable enough for extended use.

The FCN200 uses a compressor to provide air at approximately 70-100 PSI. It weighs just 13 pounds and arrives preassembled with an angled air hose nipple.

L-Shaped Cleat Extends Floor-Life
Whereas traditional flooring nailers use staple fasteners that don't allow for wood expansion and can shorten the life of a floor, the FCN200 utilizes an L-shaped cleat as its fastener. This cleat allows the floor to contract and expand naturally, even as it holds the floor in place.

And because standard 3/4-inch-thick solid hardwood flooring requires 2.0-inch cleats for secure installation, the FCN200 accepts cleats measuring from 1.5 to 2.0 inches. This means you can handle flooring materials of various thicknesses, including thinner engineered woods.

Additionally, the hammer head is short enough to allow the compressor to get close to the wall for installation of starting rows.

What's in the Box
FCN200; mallet; oil; wrenches; and 1/4-inch air fitting with dust cover.

Hitachi NV45AB2S 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Coil Roofing Nailer

Hitachi NV45AB2S 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Coil Roofing Nailer Review

Hitachi NV45AB2S 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Coil Roofing Nailer Feature

  • Powerful, lightweight, and well balanced nailer for roofing applications
  • Adjustable depth of drive; bottom load magazine
  • Lightweight and well-balanced
  • Includes safety glasses, (2) hex bar wrenches (3 and 4 mm)
  • Weighs 5.7 pounds; 5-year warranty
This tool’s daddy, the NV45AB, was a fine piece of machinery, but Hitachi took it back to the drawing board and after a few significant improvements, put this NV45AB2 coil roofing nailer on the market, where it collected awards and praise from all corners. Deserved, we think. There’s no more fiddling on the roof because the depth of drive adjustment is tool-free now, too. Hitachi dumped the racket-grip handle in favor of a great rubber grip which is much easier on the user. Rubber pads were incorporated into the metal body protectors, ensuring a firm grip on the shingles without slipping. Hitachi kept the best features of this nailer’s predecessor, too—-things like pneumatic feed and return (most nailers we’ve seen have spring return), which help power the tool through tar and buildup that might otherwise trigger a jam. Tough housing stands up to shingle scrapes, and a carbide-tipped push lever means long life for the tool’s nose. Even at a nice, light 5.2 pounds, this workhorse fires an impressive three nails per second. Roofers will like the changes.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste The Hitachi Side-Load Roofing Nailer's magazine, depth of drive and bullet-proof design make it the perfect nailer to handle any jobsite condition. The NV45AB2 is ideal for various construction applications such as the installation of asphalt roofing shingles and the installation of insulation boards. Operating PSI: 70 - 120, Fasteners Used: Roofing nails, Fastener Sizes (in.): 7/8 - 1 3/4, Fastener Size (gauge): .120, Fastener Capacity Per Strip: 120, Adjustable Depth Control: Yes (tool-less), Coil or Strip: Coil, Inlet Size (in.): 3/8, Case Included: No, Tool Length (in.): 9 27/32, Tool Weight (lbs.): 5.5

Bostitch F28WW Clipped Head 2-inch to 3-1/2-inch Framing Nailer with Magnesium Housing Review

Bostitch F28WW Clipped Head 2-inch to 3-1/2-inch Framing Nailer with Magnesium Housing Feature

  • 2- to 3-1/2-inch clipped head stick framing nailer
  • Driving power: 1050-inch-pounds; pushbutton depth of drive
  • Magnesium housing for durability; weighs 7.6-pounds
  • Sets up as sequential- or bump-fire trigger
  • Length: 20-inches; 7-year manufacturer warranty
Framing, siding, decking, attaching wood to masonry, you name it, this versatile and lightweight framing nailer from Bostitch does it all. This clipped-head nail gun is equipped with a patented pushbutton adjustable depth guide that sets the nail to desired depths quickly and conveniently. A depth-of-drive control of course means there’s no adjusting compressor pressure, but also that you don’t have to fumble for tools when you’re standing on a steep roof. Just set the compressor at 80 psi and adjust the depth as needed.

Weighing just 7.6 pounds, the tool handles great in tight quarters like attics and during otherwise shoulder-burning overhead tasks. The innovative design is a big plus when nailing top plates to floor joints or when crawling under that low deck to reinforce the new hot-tub. A factory installed sequential trigger and Bostitch’s exclusive Smart Trigger ensure optimal control and faster production. The trigger works as either a sequential or bump fire trigger. A notched, 16-inch layout indicator on the magazine helps achieve correct distance between studs in a matter of seconds. And, a lightweight magnesium housing means easy handling and unsurpassed durability.

The unit drives 2- to 3-1/2-inch wire-collated framing nails. One of the most powerful framers on the market, this nailer features 1,050 inch-pounds of driving power for tackling even toughest engineered lumber applications. And, bolt-on, steel wear guards with integrated rubber skid pads protect the tool from bumps and drops for durability and years of use. --Brian D. Olson

  • A wide 60-120 psi operating range for small and large projects.

Bosch Full-Force Technology
This nailer is part of a new line of Bosch tools, which utilize Full-Force Technology to consistently drive nails flush, even in industrial lumber. This revolutionary engineering works without return chambers that add bulk and weight and create wasted energy on the strike.

When the trigger is pulled on the BNS200-18, air drives the piston down the cylinder. As the piston strikes, air is exhausted out the front of the tool for 100-percent air power and no wasted energy.

Big Power in a Small Package
The BNS200-18 is 20% smaller than its competitors, but provides 10% more power, giving you high-performance results when driving 5/8- to 2-inch 18-gauge nails. The BNS200-18 offers an operating range of 60–120 psi, so you can quickly complete small woodworking projects or add detail and trim to larger projects.

The slim body and narrow nose give you an excellent line of sight and maximum control, even in tight spaces. And no-mar tip storage protects your tips.

This nailer is perfect for crafting and installing cabinetry, nailing in blind spots or around corners, hanging wall paneling, or repairing window and door casings. Also, it eliminates the need for pre-drilling, which can cause wood to split.

Measuring 2.25 x 9.75 x 9.0 inches (WxHxL) and weighing just 2.1 pounds, this handy tool won't weigh you down, even during heavy-duty, all-day jobs.

Tool-Less Operation for Ease of Use
The BNS200-18 offers the ease of straightforward, tool-less operation. Make adjustments to the air exhaust, fine-tune the depth of drive, clear out jams with the quick-clear function, and switch between bump and sequential firing with the selectable trigger--all without the need for a wrench or additional tools.

Prevents Tool Damage
To help ensure long-term, reliable use, the BNS200-18 features a dry fire lock-out, which prevents damage to the workpiece and the tool's internal components by eliminating blank firing. Additionally, this brad nailer comes equipped with an inline self-cleaning air filter that keeps debris away from the valve and O-ring, preventing wear, tear, and compromised performance.

The BNS200-18 comes with a one-year unconditional warranty.
