Today’s homes are stronger than ever. More knowledgeable homeowners, natural disasters, and stricter building codes have led the industry to adopt better ways of building houses. One important result of this has been the massive rise in the use of metal connectors. These metal connectors, whether it is in the form of a hurricane tie, joist hanger, or stud plate tie are used to strengthen the weaker joint areas of a home. Their popularity has given rise to a new necessity on the jobsite, the nailer to attach all of these metal connectors.

The Bostitch STRAPSHOT Metal Connector Nailer (MCN-150) is the perfect tool for all types of metal connectors. Its exposed nail tip places the fastener point directly into connector holes for a faster, more precise application. It has a built in safety that prevents the tool from firing when not placed properly into the connector hole. The Bostitch STRAPSHOT Metal Connector Nailer (MCN-150) drives 1-1/2-inch, 35 degree Paper Tape Metal Connector Nails to secure any type of metal connector plate. These nails come specially hardened to ensure that if there is a misfire it can still drive through the metal connector plate safely.

One of the features that set the Bostitch STRAPSHOT Metal Connector Nailer (MCN-150) apart from similar nailers is its size. Its compact design fits easily into hard to reach spaces including 12 inches on center studs (MCN150 only 10-1/2 inches tall). The tool is up to 50% lighter than competitive models for reduced fatigue and added maneuverability. The in line magazine also helps maneuverability by fitting into corners easily. Its low nail lockout feature prevents jams by preventing cycling with less than 5 nails for added safety. The tool also comes with hardened steel wear guards to protect the tool and adjustable exhaust to conveniently direct air away from the user. Finally, Bostitch has included a carrying case and our exclusive 7-Year Limited Warranty.

Bostitch F33PT 33-Degree Paper Tape Framing Nailer / Metal Connector Nailer

Bostitch F33PT 33-Degree Paper Tape Framing Nailer / Metal Connector Nailer Review

Bostitch F33PT 33-Degree Paper Tape Framing Nailer / Metal Connector Nailer Feature

  • Drives 2- to 3-1/2-inch paper tape collated framing nails and 1-1/2- to 3-1/2-inch paper tape metal connector nails
  • Metal connector capability includes interchangeable tip for use on joist hangers, hurricane straps, etc
  • 1050-inches-per-pound of driving power for tough engineered lumber applications
  • Includes 2 quick change nosepieces to convert tool to either framing or metal connector applications
  • Lightweight magnesium design for added durability
Framing, siding, decking, installing metal connectors, attaching wood to masonry, driving big nails into hard engineered lumber--you name it--this versatile and lightweight framing nailer from Bostitch does it all. Two nailers in one, this framing gun includes two quick-change nosepieces to convert the tool for either framing or metal connector applications. A factory installed sequential trigger and Bostitch’s exclusive Smart Trigger ensure optimal control and faster production.

Operating in either bump- or sequential-fire modes, the tool’s lightweight magnesium housing means easy handling and unsurpassed durability. Weighing just 7.9 pounds, the tool handles great in tight quarters like attics and during otherwise shoulder-burning overhead tasks. The innovative design is also a godsend when nailing top plates to floor joints or when crawling under that low deck to reinforce the new hot-tub. A patented push-button, depth-of-drive control of course means there’s no adjusting compressor pressure, but also that you don’t have to fumble for tools or awkward switches when you’re standing on a steep roof. Just set the compressor at 80 psi and adjust the depth as needed.

The unit drives 1-1/2-inch STRAPSHOT fasteners as well as all 1-1/2- and 3-1/2-inch metal connector nails measuring .131 to .162 inches in diameter. An interchangeable tip helps place nails accurately for metal connector applications. One of the most powerful framers in its class, this nailer offers 1,050 in./lbs. of driving power.

For less downtime and more productivity, a notched, 16-inch layout indicator on the magazine helps achieve correct distance between studs in a matter of seconds. And, bolt-on, steel wear guards with integrated rubber skid pads protect the tool from bumps and drops for unsurpassed durability and years of use. --Brian D. Olson
