Hitachi NV45AB2S 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Coil Roofing Nailer

Hitachi NV45AB2S 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Coil Roofing Nailer Review

Hitachi NV45AB2S 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Coil Roofing Nailer Feature

  • Powerful, lightweight, and well balanced nailer for roofing applications
  • Adjustable depth of drive; bottom load magazine
  • Lightweight and well-balanced
  • Includes safety glasses, (2) hex bar wrenches (3 and 4 mm)
  • Weighs 5.7 pounds; 5-year warranty
This tool’s daddy, the NV45AB, was a fine piece of machinery, but Hitachi took it back to the drawing board and after a few significant improvements, put this NV45AB2 coil roofing nailer on the market, where it collected awards and praise from all corners. Deserved, we think. There’s no more fiddling on the roof because the depth of drive adjustment is tool-free now, too. Hitachi dumped the racket-grip handle in favor of a great rubber grip which is much easier on the user. Rubber pads were incorporated into the metal body protectors, ensuring a firm grip on the shingles without slipping. Hitachi kept the best features of this nailer’s predecessor, too—-things like pneumatic feed and return (most nailers we’ve seen have spring return), which help power the tool through tar and buildup that might otherwise trigger a jam. Tough housing stands up to shingle scrapes, and a carbide-tipped push lever means long life for the tool’s nose. Even at a nice, light 5.2 pounds, this workhorse fires an impressive three nails per second. Roofers will like the changes.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste The Hitachi Side-Load Roofing Nailer's magazine, depth of drive and bullet-proof design make it the perfect nailer to handle any jobsite condition. The NV45AB2 is ideal for various construction applications such as the installation of asphalt roofing shingles and the installation of insulation boards. Operating PSI: 70 - 120, Fasteners Used: Roofing nails, Fastener Sizes (in.): 7/8 - 1 3/4, Fastener Size (gauge): .120, Fastener Capacity Per Strip: 120, Adjustable Depth Control: Yes (tool-less), Coil or Strip: Coil, Inlet Size (in.): 3/8, Case Included: No, Tool Length (in.): 9 27/32, Tool Weight (lbs.): 5.5

Fast, powerful, and intuitively designed, the DeWalt D51321 Coil Roofing Nailer is built to meet the serious demands of roofing professionals. This heavy-duty 3/4-inch to 1-3/4-inch coil nailer offers a cycle rate that lets you work as fast as you need to. A pneumatic-bias feed piston ensures consistent nail feed even when pressure fluctuates. This reduces the potential for skipping and jamming, saving you time, money, and frustration. If a bent fastener does get caught in the nose piece, a nose door with integrated jam clearing means that you get back to work fast. Nail loading is fast and easy too, with an easy-access side-load canister design. For task-specific performance, a unique nail height adjustment lever lets you find the perfect depth setting quickly and without tools. And at just 4.9 pounds with a durable magnesium housing, this tool is easy to handle for improved precision and less end-of-day fatigue.

This well-balanced tool provides improved safety, with a trigger lock-off that allows you to disable the trigger when the nailer is not in use and replaceable anti-skid pads that prevent the tool from sliding away from you on sloped roofs. And performing routine maintenance and cleaning of the feed piston area is simple with the easy access granted by a convenient hinged cover. Beyond the features that make this nailer so easy to use are a set of details that help ensure dependability and a long life, including durable carbide inserts in the contact trip foot and a double O-ring design that protects the feed piston.

Powerful and Accurate Nail Delivery
Amazingly powerful, the RN46-1 is capable of delivering 410 in./lbs. of force at 100 psi. And with the ability to drive up to 100 nails per minute, the RN46-1 offers two firing methods: contact trip and sequential trip. High-Capacity, Quick-Load Magazine Reduces Downtime
To help eliminate downtime, the RN46-1 has a high-capacity magazine that holds up to 120 coil nails. It accepts nails with a shank diameter of 0.120 and a length of 3/4 inch to 1-3/4 inch.

A zero nail lock-out feature eliminates dry firing when the magazine is empty, and it also indicates when it is time to reload. What's more, a patented single-action side-load canister allows for quick and easy nail loading. You simply slide the magazine door open, load the new coil of nails, and close the magazine door--it's that easy.

The RN46-1 Coil Roofing Nailer is constructed of tough magnesium for durability on the jobsite. What's more, magnesium is lightweight, so this nailer is easy on your arms.

The nosepiece features a carbide insert for durability and long tool life, while wear guards and skid pads provide protection from damage caused by working on abrasive surfaces.

The over-molded grip provides maximum comfort and gripping ability in any weather condition. That means this roofing nailer can be used for a variety of different applications--inside and out--including exterior drywall, vapor barrier installation, vinyl siding, fiber cement siding, composition roofing, and more.
